Hatchet 3 film review (Decker Shado video)
Wiki Article
Hatchet 3 is the 2013 horror film of the Hatchet series. It follows the story of Victor Crowley's ongoing adventures and his rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder stars as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow and Rileah Vanderbilt is Misty.
The main strengths of the film lie in the practical effects. Hatchet 3 is a horror film that employs CG effects less than many others. Hatchet 3 has a lot of practical makeup effects and sets, which results in some truly terrifying scenes in the movie.
The cast delivers a solid performance, with Kane Hodder standing out as the most terrifying villain. The dialogue is so funny and tongue-in cheek that it can feel like a classic '80s horror movie. There are instances of humor in the film which add humour to bloody action.
The problem is that the budget is extremely small (reportedly one million dollars) the majority of locations used that are featured in the movie are reused locations from previous films in series. For example, the same boathouse was used twice in the film. A lot of the locations seem like they were reused from previous films from this series. For those who have seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this could make the film appear familiar.
